With a heart that is currently undergoing conflicting emotions, we would like call attention to Nick Candido, this year’s President and Richmond’s first 4-year player, and Billy Rothert, ninja-turned-beater-and-snitch. Congratulations to you two and as well as VCU’s seniors Haley, Katryna, and Scott, all of whom graduated this past weekend. You’ll be missed muchly, but we promise to keep the RVAQuidSwag rolling.

Did you manage to get your hands on the UR team trading card? How about players Nick Candido, Jeremey Day, Paco Darcey, Casey Schmidt, Jules Baer, Amy Murphy, or Kevin Alloway?(Trading card designed by Jen Jewell.)

We were all thrilled to see one of our youngest fans come out to last weekend’s match. (Parenting: You’re doing it right.)

Come out and watch as Richmond Quidditch takes on the UVA Whomping Wahoos this Saturday!

If you’re anywhere in the RVA area, come out to the University of Richmond IM fields  around 12:30 this Saturday, 2/2/13, and show some spider pride!

UR and UVA’s last major meetup ended up in a hard-fought best of 3 battle which ended with UR clinching their World Cup VI bid. Will UVA come back with a vengeance? Regardless, this match-up promises to be a good show.

Bonus: Those posters you’ve been dying to get your hands on will be on sale.

Hey Tumblr!

I don’t usually make person posts like this, but this one is a special case. I know its long but please take a minute and read all of it!

I play for the University of Richmond Acromantulas Quidditch Team. We are currently the #1 team in the state of Virginia and are a team of dedicated athletes as well as a family. This November we went to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament and compete for one of eight spots to play in the sixth ever Quidditch World Cup. After two days of back to back games, several injuries and the toughest best-two-out-of-three matches this game has ever seen, we finally prevailed. The above picture was taken right after the snitch was caught in the third game and we realized we would be going to the World Cup. The team was crying with joy and we don’t want to have to give up this World Cup spot. The second photo is of our dear president crying for five minutes straight after the snitch was caught.

The Mid Atlantic Region is one of the toughest out there and we are so excited to be able to represent this region, our state and our school at the World Cup. The problem is, the World Cup this year is in Kissimmee, Florida, which isn’t at all close to Richmond, Virginia. This means that our team has to raise enough money, on our own, to pay for transportation, lodging and all of the other necessities to play in the World Cup.

I am so proud of our team. We have been working incredibly hard and dedicating hours upon hours every week to practices and all things Quidditch. If you, dear Tumblr reader, have a few extra bucks and want to see a team who loves what they do play the sport that they love in the greatest tournament in the world, please please please click the link below and donate a few dollars. Any sum will help us get to the Cup. We as a team have been dreaming about and planning for this tournament for months and I would hate to see us miss out because of money.

Thank you in advance,

<3 Amy

Thank you, Amy, for putting that so eloquently.

Remember those posters you fell so in love with back in August? (If you don’t, click here. Or here. Or here!) Well now you can have your very own fabulous copy. Both UR and plain “Quidditch” versions are available (if for some crazy reason you don’t want to show a little spider pride). Be on the lookout for these bad boys as Richmond Quidditch hits the road this semester. Not only will you walk away with a sweet piece of wall art (or whatever else you can imagine it to be), you’ll also be helping us make our way to Kissimmee for World Cup. A win-win, eh?
